Nigerian Law School mourns as student dies after Lagos hostel rooftop fall

The management of the Nigerian Law School has confirmed the death of a student from its Enugu campus who was undergoing an externship programme in Lagos.

A statement by Aderonke Osho, secretary to the school’s council of legal education, on Monday, said the student died after falling from the hostel rooftop.

“Preliminary information indicates that, at about 4:30 a.m. on Friday, 7 August 2026, the student fell from the rooftop of the hostel at Campus and, sadly, succumbed to the incident.

“The Nigerian Law School is deeply saddened by the tragic development. Management is working closely with the appropriate authorities and the family to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that all necessary procedures are duly followed, provide further information as appropriate,” the school stated.

The law school reaffirmed its commitment to the safety, welfare and well-being of all its students and staff.
