A United Kingdom-based Nigerian national, Abdul-Rasheed Adedoja, alongside three co-conspirators, has been found guilty in connection with the acid attack on drug dealer Danny Cahalane, which eventually led to his death.

It was learnt that the three co-defendants include Israel Augustus, 26; Ramarnee Bakas-Sithole, 23; and the victim’s ex-wife Paris Wilson, 35, were all convicted for their different roles in the assassination plot. 

According to the Devon and Cornwall Police, the attack on Mr Cahalane occurred in February 2025 when the 38-year-old was hit with acid at home in Plymouth. He was immediately hospitalised but later died from severe burn injuries in May after spending 10 weeks in the hospital.

Police alleged that the incident was an organised hit ordered by an unnamed overseas-based crime boss who wanted Mr Cahalane dead over a six-figure debt linked to drug supply and Mr Adedoja and his gang agreed to carry out the operation.

“Three men and a woman have been found guilty of the brutal acid killing of a Plymouth dad-of-two who was attacked in his own home. Danny Cahalane, 38, was attacked in a planned organised crime hit in Lipson Road on 21 February 2025,” the Devon and Cornwall Police stated.

The Peoples Gazette gathered that he was left with £120,000 debt to his superiors in the drug network after an individual working with him in the drug business fled to New Zealand, putting him at loggerheads with the overseas figure. 

Following the conclusion of an 18-week trial recently, jurors found Mr Adedoja, 23, guilty of murder after 40 hours of deliberations. 

Additionally, Messrs Augustus and Bakas-Sithole were found guilty of murder and manslaughter respectively. Mr Augustus had previously pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply drugs. 

Meanwhile, Ms Wilson was convicted of manslaughter and attempted kidnap. Authorities also said that she played a significant role in providing information to the drugs boss about the whereabouts of the deceased.

Police noted that the four defendants would be sentenced on June 8 depending on the availability of their lawyers. 

“Firstly, I would like to express my deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Danny Cahalane who lost his life aged just 38 following a period of time in hospital. Four people have now been found guilty of various direct roles relating to the fatal attack and we welcome the jury’s verdicts.

“Two more were found guilty in relation to the incident in Oreston, and one for his involvement in the organised crime group. The fatal attack on Danny, and the incident in Oreston, were both organised with the assistance of someone who knew him well,” Detective Inspector Rachel Blanchard said.
