Nigerian police commissioner elected INTERPOL Africa committee member

Mr Adejobi said the achievement reflects Nigeria’s growing influence and leadership in global law enforcement matters.

Commissioner of Police Olubode Ojajuni has been elected to the fifth seat on the Africa Committee of the International Criminal Police Organisation for a two-year term.

Spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force, Muyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement on Friday that Mr Ojajuni was elected during the 27th African Regional Conference in Cape Town, South Africa.

Describing the feat as another significant milestone on the international stage for the Force, Mr Adejobi said the former Lagos State police command spokesperson, “emerged victorious in the keenly contested election,” and thereby, “secured for Nigeria the fifth seat on the Committee with a tenure of two years.”

Mr Adejobi added, “the achievement reflects Nigeria’s growing influence and leadership in global law enforcement matters, particularly in the fight against transnational crime, terrorism, and other emerging threats.”

He also assured that Nigeria will, with Mr Ojajuni’s election, “continue to play a critical role in shaping regional and global policing strategies under the INTERPOL framework.”

Congratulating Mr Ojajuni for attaining the feat, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, reaffirmed the commitment of the police to maintain its professionalism, integrity, and international cooperation, while pledging to sustain active engagement with global partners to promote peace and security globally.Mr Adejobi said the achievement reflects Nigeria’s growing influence and leadership in global law enforcement matters.
