Nigerians awaiting ‘New Nigeria’ should endure hardships: Peter Obi

Peter Obi, Labour Party president candidate in the 2023 poll, has urged Nigerians to endure the untold hardship brought upon them by misgovernance and harsh economic policies.
Mr Obi, in a statement on X on Monday, said the prevailing hard times in Nigeria would eventually give way for a new dawn if Nigerians “persevere.”
“It may have been a long night, but the glorious dawn of our nation shall come eventually, and we will enjoy the New Nigeria we have all laboured for because It is POssible, if we persevere,” Mr Obi asserted.
Mr Obi made this statement against the backdrop of Mr Dangote’s statement, expressing frustration and disappointment in the opposition against his refinery project.
The former Anambra governor said Mr Dangote did the right thing contrary to the warning of the business mogul’s friend who advised him against building a refinery in Nigeria.
Mr Obi urged the billionaire businessman to keep investing in Nigeria regardless of the hostile business environment, explaining that he also suffered some losses by venturing into public service.
“My dear elder brother, Alhaji Dangote, You did the right thing by investing in the productivity, growth, development and progress of our beloved nation, through your many business ventures, irrespective of the challenges and obstacles that now stand in your way,” Mr Obi said.
He added, “I have lost more in my own life ever since I joined public service, which I would not have lost if I remained in the private sector.
“From all my savings from abroad, which I brought back home, to the businesses I started in Nigeria which were either run aground or taken over by those entrusted with their management, I endured them all.”
