Nigerians knock first lady Aisha Buhari, SSS for jailing critic

Wife of the president Aisha Buhari has come under stern criticism for illegally incarcerating a man who criticised her for growing fatter from feeding off public treasury.
A student of Federal University Dutse,
Aminu Adamu Muhammed, had in June posted on Twitter that Mrs Buhari had suddenly added massive weight after taking part in plundering the nation’s meagre resources as the masses endured hardship under her husband’s brutal regime.
On Saturday, People Gazette reported how the State Security Service illegally arrested and kept in detention Mr Muhammed for criticising Mrs Buhari, sparking reactions from Nigerians.
While offering to support the held student, human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, condemned the SSS for detaining a citizen for criticising the first lady.
“It is petty, ridiculous and unconstitutional for the SSS to arrest a citizen for “mocking” the wife of the President on social media.
“Nigeria is not Iran, North Korea or China. We’ll not tolerate such reckless abuse of power. Anyone related to the young man should reach out,” Mr Effiong said in a tweet.
David Hundeyin, an independent journalist, in a tweet on Sunday derisively said “When they proposed an “almajiri feeding program,” I didn’t realise what they meant was that they would feed all the almajiris to Aisha Buhari. Are there any almajiris left?”
Bring Back Our Girls activist, Aisha Yesufu, in a tweet said, “Who is Aisha Buhari that an aggrieved citizen cannot talk about? Those of you talking about her so called powers need to ask yourselves whether you are citizens or slaves. Duniya budurwar wawa.”
“Patience Jonathan was unfairly mocked everyday when she was the First Lady, no-one got detained; But the SSS went ahead to arrest a Twitterer (Adamu Muhammed) for criticising Aisha Buhari. Is that the job of the SSS? Why not charge the guy to court? This is an abuse of power,” a popular tweep @DanielRegha tweeted.
“Somebody should tell Aisha Buhari that she has been swallowing Nigerian money like Tuwo since she became First Lady, thats why she has exploded so yakata!,” @AjayiWizeman said.
