Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, and former Governor Akinwumi Ambode have said the continuity of President Bola Tinubu’s administration beyond 2027 is essential to consolidating the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Messrs Obasa and Ambode spoke on Saturday during an interfaith prayer in Ikeja organised to commemorate Mr Tinubu’s 74th birthday by the Mandate Movement (TMM).

Mr Obasa, representing Agege-01, said the president’s achievements, particularly in economic growth, position him strongly for a second term.

Describing Mr Tinubu as a pragmatic and visionary leader, Mr Obasa, a third-time speaker, said his administration’s policies and reforms were already reshaping Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape.

He highlighted key initiatives such as the removal of the fuel subsidy, which he said had increased state revenues, and the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFund), which he described as a “game-changer” for access to higher education.

The speaker also cited the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway as one of the country’s most ambitious infrastructure projects, with the potential to boost economic growth and tourism.

He commended First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for her Renewed Hope Initiative, noting its impact through food distribution, agricultural support for women, economic empowerment programmes, and digital learning centres.

Mr Obasa further called on Nigerians to support and re-elect Mr Tinubu, alongside all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the 2027 general elections.

In the same vein, Mr Ambode praised Mr Tinubu’s leadership and legacy, urging Nigerians to rally behind his reelection bid.

“President Tinubu’s commitment to Nigeria’s progress is commendable, and it is our collective duty to support him so that the nation can fully reap the benefits of his reforms,” Mr Ambode said.

He added that the president had stabilised the country and its economy, expressing confidence that Nigeria would continue to prosper under his administration.

The chief of staff to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Tayo Ayinde, also lauded Mr Tinubu’s efforts in repositioning the economy and called for sustained support to enable him to continue beyond 2027.

He prayed for wisdom and good health for the president to effectively steer the nation’s affairs.

Also, the chairman of the House Committee on Information and Strategy, Stephen Ogundipe (Oshodi/Isolo 1), also urged Nigerians to celebrate the president’s achievements and support his economic reforms.

The event was attended by political leaders, stakeholders, party faithful, community leaders, clerics, and supporters of the APC from across Lagos State.
