Nigerians opposing negotiations with terrorists, bandits talking nonsense, says Gumi

A self-appointed terrorist mediator, Ahmad Gumi, has attacked Nigerians opposing his calls on the federal government to negotiate with terrorists and bandits.
In a Facebook post on Friday, the cleric cited U.S.-Iran dialogue as an example to justify his persistent call on the Nigerian government to hold dialogue with terrorists.
“Peace talks between enemies. Iran sees the USA as the Biggest Devil. The USA sees Iran as part of the Axis of Evil. All parties see the other as terrorists. Yet they are over a roundtable. So don’t tell me the crap: ‘we don’t dialogue with terrorists” Mr Gumi said.
Mr Gumi has consistently advocated amnesty for terrorists, comparing them with Niger Delta militants granted amnesty by the late President Umaru Yar’Adua’s government.
The Kaduna-based cleric had also condemned the U.S. military bombing of terrorists in Sokoto on Christmas Day, describing it as a war against Islam in December.
“Attack on Sokoto, where 90% are Muslim with no imminent danger of terror, while the real threat is in Maiduguri and on a Christmas Eve, with the claim of protecting against Christian genocide, says a lot.”
