A former federal lawmaker, Sam Onuigbo, has expressed strong optimism about the reelection of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

He said this in an interview with journalists on Sunday during his family’s thanksgiving at St. Paul’s Methodist Church, Obuohia Obi-Ibere in Ikwuano LGA of Abia.

Mr Onuigbo said his conviction was based on the president’s far-reaching decisions aimed at repositioning the country for prosperity, growth, and security.

Mr Onuigbo, representing the South-East on the governing board of the North-East Development Commission, admitted that the country is facing some challenges.

He said that people should also acknowledge that Tinubu had successfully piloted the affairs of the country during his two years of service.

Mr Onuigbo said, “I have no doubt whatsoever that in 2027, Tinubu will be reelected as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“The fact from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that prices of food items have been coming down steadily, and that has been validated. Also, inflation has come down, and he has been able to unify the foreign exchange rates.

“Interesting, nobody has gone in search of fuel with jerrycans throughout this festive period. These are upward economic movements. So, I’m convinced that he will be reelected.”

Mr Onuigbo, a two-term representative for Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South federal constituency of Abia, said that the thanksgiving was in honour of God’s mercies on him and his family.

He said that God had protected and elevated him and members of his family from their humble beginnings.

“We have been through a lot, including a series of political challenges, but in all these God saw us through, and that is why we have come to show him gratitude,” he said.

Mr Onuigbo, also a former commissioner for lands and finance, pledged to rebuild the church in his community in appreciation of God’s blessings in his life.
