Nigerien nabbed for allegedly stealing 18 rams in Bauchi

The police in Bauchi State have apprehended a suspect over alleged stealing of 18 rams in the state.
This is contained in a statement by the spokesman for the command, SP Nafiu Habib, on Thursday in Bauchi.
He said operatives of the command detained a suspect and recovered 18 stolen rams following swift intelligence-led operation in the metropolis.
Mr Habib said the operatives on May 19 intercepted a white Hummer bus with registration number Delta WW-882 ZR, and a dark ash Toyota Camry car with registration number Bauchi NNG-293-AA along Gubi Road, Bauchi.
He said the vehicles were conveying 18 rams, adding that a 58-year-old suspect (name withheld), was apprehended.
Mr Habib said the suspect hailed from Tahoua town in Maradi, Niger Republic.
He said preliminary investigation showed that the suspect conspired with five others now at large, and allegedly stole the rams from a location opposite A.A. Kunya Filling Station along Murtala Mohammed Way, Bauchi.
“The syndicate is known to replace vehicle plate numbers with those of any state they visit to facilitate their criminal activities,” he said.
Mr Habib said efforts were being intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspects, adding that the suspect would be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
