Nine killed, 10 injured in Bauchi auto crash: FRSC

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Bauchi State command, says nine people died in a lone auto accident along the Jama’are-Azare road in Bauchi on Friday.
The state FRSC sector commander, Apaji Boyi, who confirmed this to journalists on Friday, said 10 other persons sustained various degrees of injuries in the crash.
According to him, a commercial bus with registration number KTG181 ZZ, conveying 19 passengers, and travelling from Gombe to Kano State, crashed at about 6:20 a.m.
He added that the corps’ personnel arrived at the crash scene in barely 10 minutes to help clear the site.
Mr Boyi attributed the crash to a speed limit violation, fatigue, and loss of control and added that the injured were taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Azare, for medical attention.
He also said the corpses of the deceased were deposited at the morgue of the same medical facility.
“Nineteen persons were involved in the fatal road crash, and nine of them lost their lives on the spot, while 10 sustained serious injuries,” he said.
The FRSC boss advised motorists to always be conscious of traffic rules and regulations while on the wheel.
He noted that the FRSC would not relent in sensitising motorists to traffic rules, signs, and regulations in the state.
