Nine killed in Ogun road crash along Ijebu-Ode-Ore expressway

The Federal Road Safety Corps has confirmed the death of nine persons in a road crash along the Ijebu-Ode-Ore Expressway.
FRSC’s Ogun sector spokesman, Afolabi Odunsi, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
Mr Odunsi said the incident occurred at about 4:55 p.m. in the Bethel area along the Ijebu-Ode-Ore Expressway.
He said the incident involved a white Toyota Hiace commercial bus, registration number 14B-299DT, belonging to Delta Line, and a white Sino truck, registration number AAB162XD, belonging to Bill Gas Solution.
According to him, nine people—three males and six females—were involved in the crash, and all were killed.
“The FRSC rescue team arrived at the scene at about 4:58 p.m., two minutes after receiving the report. The deceased victims were evacuated and deposited at the General Hospital Morgue, Ijebu-Ode, while the vehicles were towed to Ilese Police Station by the Ilese Police MTD,” he said.
The sector commander, Oludare Ogunjobi, urged motorists, particularly commercial vehicle operators, to drive with caution during rainfall.
Mr Ogunjobi advised motorists to obey speed limits, maintain safe following distances and avoid behaviours that could endanger other road users.
He noted that speeding on wet roads was particularly dangerous because reduced tyre grip and poor visibility could make it difficult for motorists to control their vehicles or stop safely.
The sector commander commiserated with the victims’ families and urged all road users to make safety their priority at all times.
