Nineteen human trafficking victims rescued in Kano: NAPTIP

The victims were rescued in Kano between September 13 and 18 by the Joint Border Task Force.

The Kano zonal command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking In Persons (NAPTIP) says it has rescued no fewer than 19 victims of human trafficking.

The zonal commander, Abdullahi Babale, said the victims were those rescued in Kano between September 13 and 18 by the Joint Border Task Force.

He added that the suspected trafficker was also arrested during the joint operation and disclosed that the victims were recruited from Abia, Kaduna, Lagos, Ebonyi, Edo, Imo, Ondo, Oyo, Ogun, Enugu and Kogi.

Mr Babale said the suspect is an indigene of Kano and was taking the victims to Libya for commercial sex and labour exploitation, while the survivors were between 18 and 32 years old.

The zonal commander also disclosed that 18 victims were females while one was male.
