Nnamdi Kanu moved to Sokoto prison for life sentence: Lawyer

Aloy Ejimakor, legal counsel to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, on Friday, confirmed the transfer of the IPOB kingpin to a correctional centre in Sokoto.
The lawyer, in a post on X, said the IPOB leader has become distanced from his lawyers, family, and well-wishers.
“Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has just been moved from DSS Abuja to the correctional facility (prison) in Sokoto, so far away from his lawyers, family, loved ones, and well-wishers,” Mr Ejimakor wrote.
The lawyer, however, expressed concern over the decision to relocate Mr Kanu to a prison in Sokoto.
He said, “While urging #Ndigbo to remain calm, I must question the wisdom of sending #MNK to Sokoto prison. When Awolowo was convicted in 1963, he was sent to the east, a neutral zone in his feud with the north.”
The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court on Thursday sentenced Mr Kanu to life in prison for terrorism and other sundry charges.
