The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced a new eight-man senior management team to take charge of the company’s affairs.

The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the company’s chief corporate communications officer, Olufemi Soneye, on Friday.

“Following the appointment of the Group Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has announced the appointment of a new 8-man Senior Management Team on Friday,” the statement read.

Mr Soneye said “the team which will be headed by the GCEO, Mr Bashir Bayo Ojulari, has Rowland Ewubare as Group Chief Operating Officer; Adedapo Segun as Group Chief Financial Officer; and Olalekan Ogunleye as Executive Vice President Gas, Power & New Energy.”

“Other members of the team are: Udy Ntia as Executive Vice President Upstream; Mumuni Dangazau as Executive Vice President Downstream; Sophia Mbakwe as Executive Vice President Business Services; and Adesua Dozie, as Company Secretary & Chief Legal Officer,” the statement added.

Mr Soneye noted that all appointments take effect immediately.

These appointments came days after President Bola Tinubu approved a sweeping reconstitution of the company, removing the chairman, Pius Akinyelure and the group chief executive officer, Mele Kolo Kyari.

Mr Tinubu also removed all other board members appointed with Messrs Akinyelure and Kyari in November 2023.

Invoking the powers granted under Section 59, subsection 2 of the Petroleum Industry Act, 2021, the president stressed the board’s restructuring was crucial for enhancing operational efficiency, restoring investor confidence, boosting local content, driving economic growth and advancing gas commercialisation and diversification.
