The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has appointed Andy Odeh and Morenike Adewunmi to head its corporate communications and relations arms.

In a statement via its official X handle on Tuesday, the public-private-owned energy giant said Mr Odeh would serve as the chief corporate communications officer, while Ms Adewunmi was named chief relations officer.

The company said Mr Odeh, with over 30 years of experience in communications and business administration, previously spent 26 years at Nigeria LNG (NLNG), where he rose through several leadership roles spanning community relations, government affairs, corporate communications, and regulatory compliance.

He was most recently the general manager of external relations and sustainable development at the gas company.

NNPCL described him as a seasoned professional recognised for overseeing rebranding projects, managing advertising campaigns, and implementing one of Nigeria’s most successful micro-credit schemes for host communities. He also played a key role in instituting the NLNG Prize for Energy Reporting.

Mr Odeh studied at the University of Jos, the University of Lagos, INSEAD Business School in France, and the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), among other institutions.

Ms Adewunmi, a lawyer with over 25 years in the oil and gas sector, previously worked at Shell Companies in Nigeria, where she handled stakeholder engagement, regulatory affairs, and government relations.

Her roles at Shell included serving as regulatory affairs manager, overseeing mandatory regulatory engagements and permits, and later as government relations manager, where she coordinated interactions with the presidency, ministries, departments, and agencies.

The company said she is “highly regarded for her leadership skills, emotional intelligence, and expertise in navigating complex regulatory and stakeholder landscapes.”

The NNPCL said the new appointments reflect its commitment to strengthening communication and engagement with stakeholders.
