NNPP extends deadline for purchase of nomination forms

The New Nigeria People’s Party has extended the deadline for buying nomination forms for the 2027 elections by one week.
The party, in its initial schedule, had set May 10 as the kickoff for the sale of its nomination forms.
The extension was disclosed in a statement by the party’s secretary general, Ogini Olaposi, on Monday in Lagos.
Mr Olaposi stated that the extension was contained in a directive from the NNPP board of trustees to the National Working Committee, which the party’s founder, Boniface Aniebonam, signed into effect.
According to him, the reason is the delay from INEC to upload the logo of the authentic leadership of the NNPP led by Agbo Gilbert Major.
He said the new date for the collection and return of contestant forms was extended to May 17.
He said the party had pegged its nomination form fees at N5 million for presidential aspirants, N2.5 million for governorship aspirants, N1.5 million for senatorial aspirants, N1 million for House of Representatives members, and N500,000 for state assembly aspirants.
“Our forms are free for all women and physically challenged persons, and all our elected officers seeking re-election are guaranteed automatic tickets after buying the forms.
“Our screening dates for the candidates shall be simultaneous with the earlier announced dates,” Mr Olaposi said.
He urged aspirants to remain calm in the face of delays by the INEC, assuring them that the situation would be resolved soon.
“The board of trustees has also directed NWC members to work harder to ensure that NNPP contests all elective positions in the 2027 general elections,” he said.
