NNPP united unlike other parties pushed around: Chairman

The New Nigeria People’s Party says it remains a steadfast force that cannot be harassed or intimidated in Nigeria’s democratic and political space.
The party’s national chairman, Ahmed Ajuji, made this statement during his remarks at the party’s National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja on Friday.
He said that every attempt by both external and internal forces to factionalise the party and its national officials to weaken the NNPP had failed.
“We are not pocketed and dictated to as some other parties are. We are NNPP. We are united and focused. We assure all our members and leaders that by the grace of God, we will continue to be the binding force along with our happily growing members, all across the country, that will drive us to victory in 2027,” he said.
Mr Ajuji, who said the NEC meeting would be the last for the current National Working Committee members under his leadership, expressed satisfaction that his leadership had not failed the party.
“I hope that majority of us will have the opportunity to continue to serve the interests of the party as well as the interests of the nation at large,” he added.
He commended the leadership and guidance of the party’s national leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as well as the support of the Kano governor, other party leaders, and members for his leadership of the NWC. He urged party leaders and members to disregard the antics of renegade members who now call themselves defectors.
“If a man or some men decided to jump from calm waters only to land in not just a frying pan, we wish them a safe journey,” he said.
Mr Kwankwaso congratulated the outgoing party executive, especially on the successful conduct of the party congresses across wards, local governments, and states.
Mr Kwankwaso said, “We may not be the biggest party in terms of numbers, but we are the most united and coordinated party. It is not the numbers that matter, but the level of coordination and our unity.”
Governor Abba Yusuf said that, despite the challenges confronting opposition parties in Nigeria, NNPP was waxing stronger and consolidating on its achievements.
“From what we have been hearing, seeing, and the ways we have been conducting ourselves, there is no political party that can compete with us,” Mr Yusuf said.
The NNPP national secretary, Dipo Johnson, commended the judiciary and the Independent National Electoral Commission for upholding the rule of law in matters affecting the party.
Mr Johnson said that, despite the challenges, NNPP under the current leadership had successfully conducted congresses at the ward and state levels across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
