The National Orientation Agency in Jigawa has begun a sensitisation campaign against flooding.

The agency’s director, Ahmad Tijjani, led a team of NOA social mobilisation officers to the palace of the district head of Bulangu in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area on Monday.

Mr Tijjani stated that the initiative aimed to reawaken citizens’ awareness of the dangers associated with flooding.

He emphasised that the recent devastation caused by floods necessitates deliberate and concerted efforts from all members of society.

“This initiative is also part of the agency’s efforts ahead of the 2025 rainy season to engage and sensitise communities on effective flood mitigation measures,” he said.

Ibrahim Sulaiman, district head of Bulangu, commended the agency for its commitment to building healthy and safe communities.

“The task of nation-building is a shared responsibility between leaders and followers.

“To achieve the desired goal, everyone must take responsibility for protecting their immediate environment,” Mr Sulaiman said.

He urged residents to avoid practices that harm their surroundings.
