Yoruba actor Sisi Quadri dies at 44
Comic Nollywood actor Quadri Oyebamiji, known as Sisi Quadri, passed on Friday, March 1, though details surrounding his death remain unknown.
His colleagues in the industry shared the news on Friday, expressing their condolences and remembering him fondly.
On Saturday, the actor was buried amid tears in Iwo, Osun State.
Sisi Quadri was renowned among Yoruba actors for his adeptness in delivering sharp-tongued insults in Yoruba movies.
Veteran actor Mr Ibu dies at 62
John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, died on Saturday, March 2, after a series of surgeries.
Emeka Rollas, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, confirmed the news in an Instagram post. He stated that Mr Ibu, aged 62, experienced a “cardiac arrest” and didn’t “make it.”
Last year, the actor underwent leg amputation surgery due to persistent blood clotting issues, as reported by his family in December 2023.
Disagreements among his family members, including his wife, son, and adopted daughter, regarding the public donations for the actor’s medical expenses have been ongoing.
Don Jazzy sells Mavin Records to Universal Music Group
On February 26, Universal Music Group (UMG) announced its acquisition of a majority stake in Mavin Records, founded by music producer Michael Ajereh, also known as Don Jazzy.
The deal, subject to regulatory approval, is expected to be finalized by the third quarter of 2024. The value of the acquisition was not disclosed.
Don Jazzy and COO Tega Oghenejobo will continue to lead Mavin, which will retain its independence in shaping strategies and nurturing talents.
Chike releases music video for ‘Egwu’ featuring late Mohbad
Sensational artiste Chike Ezekpeazu Osebuka, popularly known as Chike, released a colourful music video for his single “Egwu” on Wednesday.
The “Running to You” crooner released the song on December 15, three months after the death of singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, whom he featured.
The video vividly showcased the bustling city of Lagos, capturing both the lively atmosphere and featured prominent shots of Mohbad.
Moses Bliss ties the knot with his Ghanaian fiancée Marie Wiseborn
Gospel artist Moses Bliss tied the knot with his Ghanaian fiancée Marie Wiseborn during the week. The couple had their civil wedding on Wednesday, traditional wedding on Thursday and white wedding on Saturday after announcing their engagement on January 19.
During the traditional wedding, Bliss and his wife embraced both cultures, transitioning from Nigerian cultural attire to Ghanaian attire. Celebrities like fashion designer Veeke James and content creators Real Warri Pikin and Enioluwa were present to celebrate the couple.
