Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre on Monday confirmed that he had received a letter from United States President Donald Trump, dismissing any obligation to think purely of peace.

Mr Støre said that Mr Trump also reaffirmed his desire to control Greenland.

He said the letter had come in response to a short message he had sent to Mr Trump earlier in the day.

Mr Trump said in the letter that he spoke on behalf of Finnish President Alexander Stubb and himself.

The U.S. president, also in the letter, referred to Norway’s decision not to award him the Nobel Peace Prize for what he described as “stopping eight wars.”

“I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of peace. I can now think about what is good and proper for the United States,” Mr Trump added.

He further claimed that since NATO’s inception, the U.S. has contributed more to NATO than any other country, and now it is NATO’s time to do something for the U.S.

“The complete and total control of Greenland by the United States is the only way to ensure global security,” Mr Trump said.
