NOUN appoints Ramatu Ibrahim as acting bursar
The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has appointed Ramatu Ibrahim as the acting bursar after unknown gunmen killed the substantive bursar Nasir Marafa on Sunday.
The university, in a statement on Tuesday, said Ms Ibrahim’s appointment was approved by the vice-chancellor, Uduma Uduma, with the concurrence of the pro-chancellor and chairman of council, Malam Yuguda.
It added that her appointment took effect from Tuesday, September 8, 2026, and would remain in force until further notice.
“The registrar of the university, Mr Oladipo Ajayi, announced the appointment in a public notice issued on Tuesday, September 8, 2026,” NOUN stated.
The university explained that Ms Ibrahim’s appointment aimed to ensure continuity, stability, and effective leadership in the university’s financial administration at a critical period.
While acknowledging Mr Marafa’s contributions to the institution, NOUN described the late bursar as a dedicated staff member who served with professionalism and integrity.
It further described Ms Ibrahim as an experienced university administrator with extensive knowledge of the university’s financial operations.
The university urged its entire community to support and cooperate with the acting bursar.
