NPC mourns veteran journalist Dan Agbese, Rangers media director, Okolie

The Nigerian Press Council has expressed condolence over the demise of co-founder of the Newswatch Magazine, Dan Agbese and Media Director of Rangers International Football Club of Enugu, Norbert Okolie.

The Executive Secretary of the Council, Dr Dili Ezughah, made this known in a statement by the council’s Director, Research and Documentation, Dan Ede on Thursday in Abuja.

Mr Ezughah said, “We express a deep sense of loss over the passing of an iconic journalist and co-founder of the Newswatch Magazine, Mr Dan Agbese, who died on Monday at the age of 81. Agbese died at a time his wealth of experience and inimitable professionalism was needed to sanitise the nation’s media ecosystem. He would be highly missed by the media world. Similarly, we also mourn the sudden death of another media professional, Director, Media and Communications of the Rangers International Football Club of Enugu, Mr Norbert Okolie. Okolie, a photojournalist, was a former chairman of the Enugu State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists.’’

Mr Ezughah prayed for the eternal repose of the souls of the journalists.
