NPFL: Lobi Stars appoint Finland’s Mika Lönnström as head coach

Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Lobi Stars has appointed Finland’s Mika Lönnström as their new head coach as the Makurdi-based club seeks to turn their bad start to the season around.
Former Nigerian international Daniel Amokachi was earlier appointed by the club to take charge of the first team, but the management has now decided to bring in Lönnström as head coach while Amokachi will remain as technical adviser.
Lönnström took charge of the final training session ahead of the NPFL Matchday 10 against Remo Stars in Ikenne on Sunday.
With nine points from nine matches this season, leaving Lobi Stars in the relegation zone, the 50-year-old will hope to hit the ground running immediately to rescue the season before it is too late.
In the other NPFL Matchday 10 ties scheduled for Sunday, Bayelsa will host Enyimba, Katsina United will travel to El Kanemi Warriors, and Akwa United will be at home against Kwara United.
Nasarawa United will be away against Enugu Rangers, Kano Pillars host Plateau United; Shooting Stars will be visitors against Niger Tornadoes while Sunshine Stars tango Bendel Insurance in Ijebu Ode.
