NSCDC intercepts trailers loaded with stolen electricity cables in Ondo

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ondo State has intercepted a Kano-Lagos bound trailer allegedly transporting stolen telecommunication, electric wires and transformer cables.
Daniel Aidamenbor, the spokesperson for the NSCDC in Ondo, disclosed this in a statement in Akure on Sunday.
Mr Aidamenbo said four suspects, who are from the north, were arrested in connection with the crime.
He mentioned the names of the suspects as: Mogaji Ibrahim (40), Umaru Adamu (32), Abba Muhazu (19), and Adamu Idris (25).
Mr Aidamenbo revealed that the loaded trailer was stopped at the old Ore Toll Gate in the Odigbo Local Government Area of the state, where the suspects were nabbed at gunpoint.
“They were apprehended while transporting vandalised telecommunication wires, BEDC equipment such as transformer parts, high tension cables, copper and armoured cables, and other cut-to-size metal objects from Kano to Lagos,” he said.
Mr Aidamenbor said all the exhibits recovered from the suspects would serve as evidence during the investigation.
He added that the command was intensifying efforts to unmask their sponsors and bring them to book.
The NSCDC official reiterated the command’s effort to fight economic saboteurs who target critical national assets and infrastructure.
While stressing that the command has intensified its intelligence-led surveillance, Mr Aidamenbor warned criminal elements to stay off the state.
He maintained that officers have been placed on high alert to flush out all criminal elements from the state.
