The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has apprehended four suspected kidnappers terrorising residents, particularly motorists in Ondo State.

The suspects were nabbed at Abusoro camp, in the Ipele forest reserve of Owo Local Government Area of the state.

They are Isiaku Jubril (37), Nura Idris (30), Mohammed Sulieman (50) and Dairu Abdullahi (25).

The state Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, Daniel Aidamenbor, who disclosed this on Thursday, said the four suspects were apprehended by a combined team of crack squad from the command.

Mr Aidamenbor explained that one of the suspects, Dairu – from Kogi State – was arrested at Eti Ose river forest after a gun duel with the operatives of the corps.

“He (Dairu) was identified as one of the kidnappers who collected the ransom of N6.2 million,” he said.

According to him, the remaining three suspected kidnappers were arrested when attempting to kidnap their victim at the Ipele forest reserve.

Mr Aidamenbor added that the corps also arrested one Jim Uyobon, 30, who was into marijuana cultivation in the forest and served as an informant to the suspected kidnappers.

He, however, listed exhibits recovered from the suspects to include two local guns, three cutlasses, four mobile phones, one NIN card, four voter cards, one ATM card, one TVS motorcycle, several bullet pallets, and one NYSC uniform.

“After Our Investigation, the suspects will be prosecuted in court while the narcotic suspect will be handed over to the NDLEA,” the NSCDC spokesman said.
