NSCDC nabs three Kano suspects for alleged theft, vandalism

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command has arrested three suspects for alleged vandalism and tricycle theft in different parts of the state.
This is contained in a statement on Friday in Kano by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Idris-Abdullahi.
Mr Idris-Abdullahi said two suspects, Adamu Ibrahim, 25, and Abba Ado, 24, both residents of Roba in the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area (LGA) were arrested for alleged vandalism and stealing 300 metres of aluminium conductor cables belonging to the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO).
He stated that the suspects were apprehended shortly after committing the offence in Yunfawa village, Dawakin Tofa LGA.
“The incident occurred on April 28, at about 8:00a.m. when the suspects allegedly climbed electric poles, vandalised the cables, and attempted to flee with them. They were intercepted and arrested by security operatives and later handed over to the NSCDC office in the area,” he added.
Mr Idris-Abdullahi said the suspects confessed to the offence during interrogation at the corps’ state headquarters in Kano, saying that one accomplice remained at large.
He added that the command also arrested an 18-year-old suspected tricycle thief, Abdullahi Aminu, a resident of Unguwar Dabai in the Dala LGA.
The suspect was arrested by NSCDC officials on routine patrol along the Kofar Waika/Kofar Dawanau dual carriageway on Wednesday.
He alleged that the suspect forcefully entered a parked tricycle with a female passenger on board while the rider briefly stepped away to deliver a dispatch item.
“The suspect drove off recklessly with the female passenger before NSCDC operatives from Dala Division, who were on routine patrol, rescued the victim and arrested him,” he said.
“The suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations,” Mr Idris-Abdullahi stated. (NAN)
