NSCDC nabs three suspected vandals in Katsina

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says it has apprehended three suspected streetlight cable vandals in Katsina state.
The spokesman of the Corps, DSC Buhari Hamisu, stated this while parading the suspects in Katsina on Thursday.
He said operatives of the Special Anti Vandal Patrol, apprehended the suspects (names withheld) at different locations in Katsina metropolis.
“The suspects belonged to a notorious syndicate that specialises in vandalising streetlight armoured cables and theft while carrying arms in their operations,” he said.
He said the suspects conspired with their accomplices now at large, and vandalised streetlight cables at Usman Nagogo road, opposite the state ministry of works.
“They later moved to an uncompleted building with two others where they burnt the cables,” he said.
Mr Hamisu said preliminary investigation showed that the suspects had earlier vandalised street light cables at the same location, and sold it to a major buyer of stolen items.
The spokesman said the operatives also nabbed a 16-year old suspect for alleged vandalism of street light cables at Hassan Usman road, close to the Union Bank.
He said the suspects would be charged to court after completion of investigation, and urged parents to warn their wards against vandalism and vices.
