NSCDC recorded 5,778 criminal, civil cases in Kano in 2023: Commandant

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) treated 5,778 criminal and civil cases in Kano State from January to December 2023.
The corps commandant in the state, Mohammed Lawal-Falala, told journalists in Kano on Tuesday that the cases comprised 1,564 criminal and 4,214 civil.
He said the criminal cases were related to vandalism, fraud, rape, kidnapping, cheating, criminal breach of trust and armed robbery.
“Over 80 per cent of the civil cases related to marital/family dispute, communal/neighbourhood conflict, farmer/herder clash, breach of contract, debt and land disputes, were resolved.
“Operatives of the corps engaged in over 2,617 operations and rescue operations of victims of disasters.
“We received 62 emergency cases of disaster ranging from auto accident, fire mishaps and flood,” he said.
Mr Lawal-Falala said the corps secured over 200 convictions from various courts and recovered N6.8 million vandalised goods and property within the period under review.
He urged the state’s residents to cooperate with the corps and report suspicious movement of persons or items to security agencies.
The commandant reiterated the corps’ commitment to protect critical national assets and infrastructure in the state.
