Sadiya Sani-Daura, the CEO of the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), Kaduna, said teachers must be empowered with the tools and skills to harness the potential of digital platforms.

According to her, this enhances instruction, engages learners, and fosters critical thinking.

Ms Sani-Daura disclosed this at the opening of a five-day nationwide training with participants from the 36 states and Abuja. The Institute organised it in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in Kaduna.

The NTI chief executive stated that the training was expected to bridge the gap between traditional teaching methods and the emerging trends in education technology.

According to her, it will also prepare teachers across the country to thrive in the digital age.

She said NTI, in collaboration with UBEC, has consistently championed innovative strategies to equip teachers with the skills and knowledge required to address the evolving demand of modern education.

Ms Sani-Daura said, “Today’s workshops reflect this commitment, providing an avenue for professional development that aligns with global best practices and national priorities.”

She also mentioned that teachers were relevant because they were critical in any educational transformation, emphasising that education transformation was one of President Bola Tinubu’s priorities, though the sector faces challenges.

Ms Sani-Daura expressed optimism about Mr Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’, which aims to transform the sector and restore its glory.
