NYCN proposes N20 million developmental projects for community youths

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area (LCDA) chapter, has proposed N20 million in developmental projects to engage youths in the community in various skill acquisition programmes.
The newly elected NYCN chairman, Lagos state chapter, Ibrahim Adigun, said this at a news conference on Monday in Lagos.
Mr Adigun urged the youth to be focused and encouraged them to venture into productive programmes that would foster development.
“We want our youths to be more focused on encouraging themselves positively and organise developmental programmes for future purpose.
”NYCN is committed to collaborating with both the community and global youths to ensure developmental programmes are put in place for future purposes.
“With this proposed N20 million developmental project, we will partner Orile Agege youths and give support for its success,” he said.
The coordinator, Orile-Agege NYCN, Adetunji Owokalade, said that the news conference was part of activities lined up in preparation for the International Youths Day, celebrated annually on Aug.12.
According to him, the proposed N20 million will help play a crucial role in shaping the future of young people.
“This year’s International Youth Day theme, “Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Development”, underscores the importance of equipping youths with the tools, skills and opportunities they need to contribute meaningfully to society.
“In line with this theme, we are proud to announce our proposed N20 million fundraising investiture.
“The funds raised will be directed to various programmes aimed at empowering our youths in education, skill acquisition workshops, entrepreneurial initiatives, community development and other projects,” he said.
Mr Owokalade said the event would also honour individuals and organisations that had made outstanding contributions to youth development in Orile Agege and beyond.
He said that the awards of recognition would praise the efforts of philanthropists and inspire others to join in the cause of youth empowerment.
“We believe that by investing in our youths, we are laying a solid foundation for a prosperous and sustainable future.
“This initiative is not just a one-time event but a long-term commitment to the growth and development of our young people.
“I would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to our sponsors, partners, and all those who have supported us in this endeavour.
“Your contributions are invaluable, and together, we can make a lasting impact on the community,” he said.
