Obasa receives Chinese delegation, reaffirms stronger bilateral relations

The Lagos State House of Assembly speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, has reaffirmed the state’s commitment to deepening international cooperation, particularly with the People’s Republic of China.
Mr Obasa made this known on Friday while receiving a high-powered delegation from the standing committee of the Zhejiang Provincial People’s Congress at the Assembly Complex in Alausa, Ikeja.
The delegation was led by Wu Jing, vice chairman of the standing committee of Zhejiang Province.
Mr Obasa described the visit as a significant milestone in advancing diplomatic and developmental relations between Lagos State and Zhejiang Province.
He highlighted Lagos State’s strategic position as the fifth-largest economy in Africa, with a population exceeding 20 million.
According to him, it offers vast opportunities in infrastructure development, commerce, technology, and cultural exchange.
“The Lagos State House of Assembly remains committed to fostering partnerships that will enhance legislative capacity and drive sustainable development,” Mr Obasa said.
“We believe this visit will open new avenues for mutual benefit between Zhejiang Province and Lagos State.”
In his remarks, Mr Wu Jing expressed appreciation for the warm hospitality, stating that the visit aimed to strengthen bilateral ties and foster greater cooperation and understanding between both regions.
“This visit will pave the way for long-term friendship and collaboration between Zhejiang and Lagos,” Mr Jing added.
Present at the meeting were the House clerk, Olalekan Onafeko, and the speaker’s chief of staff, Omoyele Quadri.
