All the 34 delegates on Monday voted for Tajudeen Obasa as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Candidate for Ojo federal constituency in Lagos.

Mr Obasa currently represents the constituency. He contested against Emiabata Agboola-Michael, who was absent and was not represented during the primary election.

The rerun election was held at the party’s secretariat in Ojo.

The election was conducted under the supervision of PDP’s electoral officer Aisha Ashiru, Ojo constituency PDP chairman Hassan Abbas-Saraomi, and Independent National Electoral Commission official Sadeeq Ayinla, among other observers.

Ms Ashiru had, after accreditation of the delegates, demanded to see the aspirants or their representatives, but only Mr Obasa and his agent showed up at the venue.

Mr Obasa won all the 34 votes cast.

Declaring Mr Obasa the winner, Ms Ashiru said that no vote was invalid.

According to her, the delegates conducted themselves in an orderly manner.

“The election has peacefully come to completion with a winner. Therefore, it is expected of us, as party faithful, to close ranks and ensure that the party wins in the general election,” she stated.

Addressing PDP members after the election, Mr Obasa promised to consolidate his achievements if elected in 2023.
