Obi only threatened Peoples Gazette over leaked “Yes Daddy” tape, had no plan to sue: Spokesman

National coordinator of the Obidient Movements, Tanko Yunusa, has said a former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, only threatened to take legal action against Peoples Gazette for leaking the “Yes Daddy” audio call with the founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, David Oyedepo, but had no intention to sue the media outfit.
Mr Yunusa, in a statement on Monday, said the ex-Anambra State governor’s refusal to waste his time in court didn’t mean he was guilty, as being peddled by his political opponents and critics.
Mr Yunusa said, “Regarding the “Yes Daddy” audio, Peter Obi, like any responsible leader, reserved his legal options. Choosing not to waste years in court does not equate to guilt. It is simply a strategy. The agents of propaganda know this but prefer to spread lies.”
Mr Obi, in the audio, was heard begging the cleric to back his presidential ambition by assisting in getting Christians in the South-West and in the North Central states of Kwara, Kogi, and Niger, tagging the polls a “religious war,” and repeatedly saying “Yes, Daddy!” to curry Mr Oyedepo’s favour.
He also dismissed a WhatsApp broadcast against Lagos State, stating that there was no credible evidence linking Mr Obi or his team to the messages, alleging that paid agents keep recycling lies against him without proof.
“Propaganda thrives on lies because the truth exposes their failures. These individuals parade themselves with all manner of titles, but in reality, they are failed propagandists desperate for relevance. Their words carry no weight among Nigerians who are tired of deceit, corruption, and manipulation. The fact that they keep dragging Peter Obi’s name is only to gain attention,” Mr Yunusa stated.
