Morris Monye, an ally of Peter Obi, has accused the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) of fraudulently substituting him and handing the Delta State House of Assembly ticket to a defector from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mr Monye confirmed that the NDC substituted him and imposed Uzoma Awunor, a defector from the APC, on his constituents in a post on X on Saturday.

He said, “When news of this substitution started filtering in due to the entry of newly defected APC strongmen in Delta State (You know them), I had to run to H.E. Peter Obi late at night to brief him on what was going on.

“The narrative from the new entrants was that I lost the primaries to justify the substitution. The returning officer wrote a result to favor the said person. I just assumed the right thing was done. That was the legality used by the powers that be in Delta North.”

With an emoji pointing at the campaign posters of Mr Awunor, Mr Monye said, “This is who NDC is set to declare as the candidate due to imposition by the Delta strongman.”

Mr Monye stated that after deliberation with Mr Obi and other political allies, he has decided to move on while focusing on supporting the NDC presidential candidate.
