Officer shot, station looted as UGM strike again in Abia

Another attack on security personnel and facility has occurred, this time in Abia State where hoodlums Wednesday night set ablaze the Bende Divisional Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force.
The state’s police spokesman Geoffrey Ogbonna confirmed the incident to Peoples Gazette on Thursday.
Stating that investigation of the attack is in progress, Mr Ogbonna said, “The place was set ablaze, our policemen were injured, and other things were also set ablaze, like vehicles.”
He further disclosed that the local government premises in the area wasn’t spared by the hoodlums as “they went in there to set ablaze the generator house.”
Mr Ogbonna however refuted the report that detainees in the facility were freed, saying, “I’m not aware of that, I don’t have that on my record. I don’t have such information.”
The Nation on Thursday had reported the attack on the station where a police officer was shot in the leg and is currently receiving medical attention.
This recent development is coming after Sunday’s reported hoodlums’ attack of the Mike Okiro police station situated at the Umuahia-Uzoakoli Road, beside Ubani market, Umuahia North Local Government Area of the state.
