The police announced on Wednesday that operatives have begun an investigation into the kidnapping of former power minister Adebayo Adelabu’s sister and nephews.

Mr Adelabu’s sister, Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke and her twin sons were reported kidnapped by gunmen on Wednesday morning.

The command’s spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, in a statement, said the police commissioner, Olugbenga Abimbola, had directed the divisional police officer at the Challenge Division, alongside other tactical teams, to proceed to the alleged crime.

“The Oyo state police command has commenced an investigation into the abduction of Mrs Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke and her twin sons, who were reportedly abducted earlier today,” the statement said. “Investigations are ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice,” it said.

The command urged residents in the state to be calm, law-abiding and cooperative with the police by providing useful information that may assist its ongoing investigations.
