Ogogo: Colleagues rally support as veteran Nollywood actor battles stage four cancer

Colleagues of the Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as ‘Ogogo,’ on Tuesday, rallied support for him amid report he is battling stage four cancer.
A video of the actor’s daughter, Shakira Taiwo, crying and begging for medical help for her ailing father emerged on social media on Monday.
“I’m here for my daddy. He has cancer. Stage four. Hospitals are saying they cannot treat him again,” Ms Taiwo said. “What I am here for is, if anyone can treat my dad, whether in hospital or with herbs, please help. My daddy does not want to die. Please don’t let my daddy die. Anybody you know that can treat cancer, please, I’m begging you.”
Many of his colleagues, who expressed sadness over the development, sought urgent medical intervention for him.
“With sadness, trembling hands and hope, I repost this,” Muyiwa Ademola stated. “Uncle Taiwo Hassan is diagnosed with stage 4 cancer as daughter seeks help from medical professionals on treatment opportunities.”
“Please, we need who is sure! We cannot gamble at this stage. It’s not about money but means to get him treated,” Mr Ademola added.
Another actor, Femi Adebayo, wrote, “Please let’s rally around our beloved Sir Taiwo Hassan, who is currently facing a serious health challenge battling cancer.”
Mr Adebayo added, “They are searching for recommendations for standard hospitals, specialists, or advanced treatment centers anywhere in the world that can review his files and offer treatment options right now. If you know someone who knows someone in the oncology space, or a medical avenue that can assist please help reach out to his family immediately.
“Keeping hopes alive and praying for divine intervention for Daddy Ogogo. God, please, intervene and bring healing somehow,” Wumi Toriola wrote.
Another younger colleague, Adebimpe Oyebade, stated, “Please, help us in saving Daddy Ogogo. If you know who can treat him medically or traditionally, kindly reach out.”
“If you know who can treat him, hospitals are saying they cannot give him chemo. Kindly send me dm,” Ibrahim Yekini, aka Itele, stated.
Jamiu Azeez wrote, “God, please, lay your healing hands upon him.”
“God should take total control,” Kunle Afod said.
Meanwhile, the national president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Abubakar Yakubu, urged actors to enrol in the guild’s health insurance scheme and undergo regular medical checks to prevent health breakdowns.
Mr Yakubu, on Tuesday in Abuja, said that as part of his administration’s efforts to improve actors’ welfare, the scheme had enabled members to access medical care and undergo comprehensive examinations for early detection of potential health problems.
