Ogun: FRSC warns against indiscriminate parking on highways
Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun has appealed to companies located along the Ewekoro-Papa axis to desist from parking vehicles indiscriminately and driving against traffic to prevent crashes on the Abeokuta-Lagos Expressway.
The Itori unit commander of the FRSC, Shamaki Yerima, appealed in an interview on Sunday in Ota, Ogun.
Mr Yerima said that the appeal became necessary because indiscriminate parking of vehicles blocks movements on the road and endangers the lives of other road users.
He said the FRSC had met several times to discuss with the companies to caution their drivers from wrongful parking along the Ewekoro-Papa axis to prevent oncoming vehicles from crashing into parked ones.
“To some extent, they have complied, but there are some who are still parking indiscriminately on the road leading to their companies.
“They should stay away from roads where there are no high shoulders because it blocks movement,” he said.
The unit commander reiterated the commitment of the corps to continue to dialogue with the management of those companies because it is a continuous exercise to avoid mishaps.
He appealed to those companies along the Ewekoro-Papa axis to tell their drivers to maintain and adhere to traffic rules and regulations to ensure sanity on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
