Ogun, Kogi, Cross River top mineral production in 2021: Report

Aggregate production of mineral products in Nigeria peaked at 89.48 million tonnes in 2021 with Ogun, Kogi and Cross River states recording the highest output, per a report by the federal statistics bureau.
The National Bureau of Statistics’ mineral production report for 2021 showed that national production grew by 39.19 per cent from 64.29 million tons in 2020 to 89.48 million tonnes in 2021.
On state profile analysis, the report showed Ogun recorded the highest production in 2021 with 32.04 million tons, followed by Kogi with 18.40 million tonnes and Cross River with 11.64 million tonnes.
The report said the least production was recorded in Borno with 231 tonnes.
According to the report, limestone, granite, and laterite are the three biggest minerals mined in 2021.
