The Ogun government has opened its job application portal, for the recruitment of operatives into the Ogun State Security Network otherwise known as Amotekun Corps.

“The Ogun Amotekun Corps is expected to beef up the existing security architecture in Ogun State and improve security and intelligence gathering in local communities,” an official said on Thursday.

Amongst the advertised available positions were. Field Operatives, Inspector of Corps, Assistant Superintendent of Corps, Superintendent of Corps, and Assistant Commander of Corps.

Ex-servicemen, Local Vigilantes and Hunters were all encouraged to join the application process which is said to close on Friday 19th of February.

Amotekun Corps is an initiative of the Southwest Security Network championed by the Development Agenda for Southwest Nigeria (DAWN) Commission, promoted to combat growing cases of insecurity in the geopolitical zone.

Insecurity in the southwest has been on the increase in recent times with bitter clashes between farmers and nomadic farmers who often encroach farmlands and destroy crops.

Fulani herdsmen have also been accused of kidnapping, rape, and other vicious crimes, necessitating the birth of the zonal security plot.

Ogun is one of the two states of the Southwest yet to fully take-off with the scheme. Ondo, Ekiti, Osun and Oyo states have already launched their own security outfit.
