Ogun police arrest 11 suspects, recover 25 ATM cards, firearms
The Ogun State police command says it arrested 11 suspects and recovered two suspected stolen vehicles, three firearms and 25 ATM cards between September 16 and September 26.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement in Abeokuta on Sunday.
According to him, the command recorded the successes through targeted operations, intelligence gathering and proactive enforcement across various divisions.
“The Ogun state police command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, has recorded multiple operational successes across the state within an 11-day period.
“This was achieved through effective policing, targeted operations and proactive enforcement,” he said.
Mr Babaseyi said detectives from the Owode-Egba Division recovered a stolen commercial TVS motorcycle at Mokoloki Village on September 17 and arrested two suspects.
He said operatives of the Olorunda Division also arrested two suspects conveying allegedly stolen electrical materials along Ayetoro Road on September 19.
He stated that the SWAT operatives arrested three suspects around Dalemo, Ota, on September 21, after intercepting an unregistered tricycle and motorcycle allegedly linked to a vehicle theft.
The police spokesperson said the Igbesa Division arrested a 45-year-old suspect in connection with an alleged N2.5 million fraud and recovered 25 ATM cards and several mobile phones.
He noted that the SWAT operatives also arrested two suspected cult members and recovered one pump-action rifle and two locally made pistols during an operation on Tuesday.
Mr Babaseyi also stated that detectives in Ijebu-Ode recovered a suspected stolen Safira vehicle and arrested a suspect following discreet investigation and intelligence gathering.
The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the officers for their professionalism and urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to the police.
The commissioner assured residents of the command’s commitment to proactive policing and maintaining peace and security across Ogun.
