Ogun: Police seek stronger collaboration with NDLEA to tackle drug abuse

The police command in Ogun has solicited stronger collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to fight drug abuse and trafficking in the state.
The police public relations officer (PPRO) in Ogun, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, made the disclosure in a statement issued to journalists on Thursday in Abeokuta.
Mr Babaseyi quoted the state Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, as making the appeal during a familiarisation visit to the NDLEA command in Abeokuta.
“The CP and the Ogun NDLEA Commander, Tijani Rabe, explored avenues of sustained synergy and collaboration in combating drug abuse and trafficking.
“Emphasis was on intelligence sharing, joint operations, and coordinated public sensitisation,” he said.
Mr Babaseyi said that in recognition of his commitment to the fight against drug-related crimes, CP Ojajuni was decorated with the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) ambassadorial tag.
“This signifies his role as an advocate in promoting a drug-free society.
“The CP appreciated the NDLEA for the honour and reaffirmed the police command’s resolve to strengthen inter-agency cooperation.
“This is in addressing the challenges of substance abuse and its attendant crimes,” he said.
