The Ogun government has reaffirmed zero tolerance for gender-based violence, child abuse and exploitation, pledging stricter enforcement, coordinated prosecution and decisive punishment in 2026.

The state commissioner for women affairs and social development, Adijat Adeleye, stated this on Friday in Abeokuta during the ministry’s annual training, award and thanksgiving programme.

She warned that 2026 would be difficult for perpetrators, assuring that offenders would be exposed and prosecuted without fear or favour.

“Next year, there will be no hiding place for those who abuse children, women or vulnerable persons,” Ms Adeleye said.

According to her, the ministry’s 2026 agenda will emphasise results-driven governance, citizen-centred service delivery and stronger inter-agency collaboration.

“Policies will prioritise prevention, early intervention, survivor support and justice delivery to build responsive, measurable and sustainable social protection systems,” she said.

Reviewing 2025 achievements, Ms Adeleye attributed the ministry’s impact to purposeful leadership, strong political will and a clear reform agenda.

She commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for creating an enabling environment for social inclusion, protection of vulnerable groups and improved institutional performance.

The commissioner acknowledged development partners, noting that their support enhanced technical capacity, professionalism and accountability within the ministry.

She reaffirmed the state’s commitment to rewarding excellence in public service, describing recognition as vital to effective social development and sustainable governance.

Ms Adeleye said the programme reviewed policies, built staff capacity and celebrated outstanding performance, with women empowerment and child protection as key priorities.

She added that a two-day strategic training was held, while awards recognised staff excellence, innovation, discipline and dedication to duty.
