Ogun SDP governorship candidate steps down for PDP’s Ladi Adebutu

The Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Ogun state, Tony Ojeshina, has collapsed his structure into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in support of the party’s candidate, Ladi Adebutu.
Mr Ojeshina made the announcement during a press conference on Thursday in Abeokuta the state capital where he said that his decision was necessary to wrestle the state’s leadership from incumbent Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Consequently, Our great party (SDP) has agreed to work with PDP and other political parties during the gubernatorial election of March 11, 2023, in order to Wrestle power from the current deceptive government of APC. We sincerely believe the synergy between SDP and PDP will usher in a prosperous time for our people, anchored on the lofty vision of making Ogun an industrious model state in Nigeria, based on the ethos of Omoluabi,” Mr Ojeshina said.
He then urged his supporters and party faithful to vote Mr Adebutu and the PDP in the coming gubernatorial election.
“We, therefore, enjoin all Ogun State registered voters, as well as supporters and members of our great party, to vote for PDP on 11 March 2023,” he added.
The governorship and states’ assembly elections have, however,r been rescheduled from March 11 to March 18 to help the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) mitigate the crisis arising from the configuration and distribution of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).
