Governor Monday Okpebholo has condoled with Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa and members of his family over the death of their matriarch, Esther Idahosa.

In a statement by his chief press secretary, Patrick Ebojele, on Wednesday, the governor described the death as “a deeply painful loss”.

Mr Okpebholo stated, “The death of a mother, regardless of age, leaves an irreplaceable void in the lives of her loved ones.”

He acknowledged the remarkable life the nonagenarian lived, ”marked by love, sacrifice, and devotion to family”, adding that her legacy would continue to inspire all who knew her.

He prayed that God shall grant his deputy and the entire Idahosa’s family “the strength, courage, and fortitude to bear the great loss”, while also praying for the peaceful repose of her soul.

In a related development, Neda Imasuen, representing Edo South senatorial district, also conveyed his condolences to the deputy governor, on behalf of his family and constituents.

Mr Imasuen described the deceased as “a woman of rare grace, strength, and enduring values”, whose life stood as a shining legacy for generations to emulate.

He noted that her impact as a mother, community figure, and moral compass would continue to resonate far beyond her years.

He prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul and urged the bereaved family “to take solace in the remarkable life she lived and the indellible mark she left behind”.

Ms Idahosa (nee Enabulele) died on Wednesday. She was 95.
