Commissioner for Youth in Edo State, Charity Amayanvbo, has said Governor Monday Okpebholo and President Bola Tinubu’s eight-year leadership mandate is “non-negotiable.”

Mr Amayanvbo said this when Kelly Okungbowa (Ebo Stone), founder of the Youth for Youth Movement, visited him on Tuesday in Benin.

The commissioner cited the developmental strides of the two as well as respect for traditional institutions by Okpebholo as reasons for overwhelming public support.

According to him, both the Binis and the entire Edo youth population stand firmly behind the governor.

“Okpebholo has restored the confidence of the people in governance. He has brought back dignity to our traditional institutions and rekindled the hope of Edo youths. His eight years in office are non-negotiable,” he said.

He lauded the governor for restoring the dignity and authority of the Benin Traditional Council and showing “unprecedented respect to the revered Oba of Benin Kingdom”.

Mr Amayanvbo said Mr Okpebholo’s leadership had rekindled unity among Edo people, with tangible achievements, particularly in Edo South Senatorial District.

“The governor has done what his predecessor, a Benin man, could not do. From the Ramat Park Flyover to the Second Flyover at Adesuwa Road and the massive road rehabilitation projects across the state, Gov. Okpebholo is setting a new standard in governance,” he said.

The commissioner lauded the governor for his boldness and transparency, especially his recent directive to the Edo State House of Assembly to investigate the Emowa project.

He described the initiative as a demonstration of accountability and commitment to good governance.

Mr Amayanvbo, however, urged Edo youths to rally around the governor and support his vision of a greater Edo State.

“Edo youths must continue to stand with Governor Okpebholo. He is the beacon of hope for our generation, and his developmental vision deserves our unwavering support,” he added.

In his remarks, Mr Okungbowa commended the commissioner for his inclusive leadership and described him as “a father to all.”

He pledged the support of the Youth for Youth Movement in mobilising Edo youths to deliver a 2.5 million-vote in support of Mr Okpebholo and President Bola Tinubu.

“We will stand firmly by the governor to ensure the success of his non-negotiable mandate.
Edo youths are united and ready to defend his vision for the state,” Mr Okungbowa assured.
