Okpebholo’s emergence as Edo governor-elect, milestone for APC: Akpabio
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has described the emergence of Monday Okpebholo as governor-elect of Edo as a milestone for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Mr Akpabio, in a statement, congratulated Mr Okpebholo and his deputy,
Dennis Idahosa on their “hard-fought, but well-deserved victory in the Edo state governorship election.”
Mr Akpabio said the outcome of the election was not just a victory for the APC but for the entire state.
The Senate president said this would pave the way for more federal government projects and infrastructural development schemes to reach the state.
“This triumph is a testament to Senator Okpebholo’s tireless efforts and commitment to the people of Edo. As a seasoned politician and senator representing Edo Central senatorial district, Okpebholo has consistently demonstrated his ability to drive positive change and progress.
“His victory is a significant milestone for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a clear indication of the people’s trust in his leadership,” he stated.
Mr Akpabio, therefore, advised Mr Okpebholo to continue his good works to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach all corners of the state. He called on the people of Edo to rally behind their new governor and accord him all the support he would need to be able to move the state forward.
Mr Akpabio expressed confidence that Okpebholo and Idahosa would be good ambassadors of the National Assembly, serving senators and honourable members, respectively.
He further expressed the hope they would build on the progress to take Edo to greater heights.
Mr Akpabio urged the duo to be magnanimous in victory by extending their hands of fellowship to every Edo person with the value needed for the development of the state, no matter their affiliations.
According to Mr Akpabio, with the election victory already secured, the task ahead is enormous and will require all hands to be on deck.
