Olaolukitan Abel found dead in police custody after opening fire, killing residents in Atlanta

Olaolukitan Abel, a U.S.-based Nigerian arrested for opening fire and killing two women in Atlanta has been found dead in his cell at the DeKalb County Jail.
Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office announced in a statement on Wednesday that Mr Abel, 26, was found “unresponsive” in his jail cell at around 6:48 p.m. Tuesday.
He was declared dead about a hour after all efforts by detention staff to resuscitate him failed.
“There is no indication of criminal activity or foul play,” the statement said.
It noted that the cause of Mr Abel’s death had yet to be ascertained.
Authorities said investigations would be carried out to determine and inform the public about the cause of Mr Abel’s death in the cell.
