Olatunji Disu assumes duty as new FCT CP

The new Commissioner of Police (CP) for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Olatunji Disu, has assumed duty with a pledge to adopt a zero-tolerance approach to crimes and criminalities.
Mr Disu said this while briefing journalists to mark his assumption to duty on Monday in Abuja.
“As I assume this role, I am very much aware of the security challenges facing the FCT and the foundational work laid by my predecessors to maintain relative peace.
“I am committed to building upon this groundwork and enhancing our efforts to significantly improve the security situation in our territory.
“To those who seek to disrupt the tranquility of the FCT, I send a clear and resolute message. My tenure will be marked by a zero-tolerance to all forms of crime and criminality,” he said.
Mr Disu said his administration would not waver in its commitment to safeguarding the FCT and ensuring effective law enforcement and respect of the rights of citizens.
“My administration will strengthen partnership with local organisations, community leaders and stakeholders.
“The partnership will foster trust on innovative strategies to address the security concerns that affect FCT residents.
“We will prioritise community policing, intelligence gathering, technology integration, training and development, and public engagement
“Insights and feedback from the communities would be invaluable in the journey to navigate the security challenges together,” he added.
The new CP said that the feedback from the public would help refine the police approach in the fight against crimes and criminalities.
