Olubadan of Ibadanland dies after celebrating 90th birthday

The king was born on July 5, 1935, in Okugbaja in Akanran, in the present-day Ona-Ara LGA of Oyo State.

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has died.

The Ibadan king passed on Monday. No details yet per his demise from the palace.

The monarch celebrated his 90th birthday over the weekend.

Mr Olakulehin was crowned as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland on July 12, 2024.

The king was born on July 5, 1935, in Okugbaja in Akanran, in the present-day Ona-Ara LGA of Oyo State.

Formerly a soldier, he was a founding member of the Social Democratic Party in Oyo State during the Third Republic. In 1992, he served as a member of the House of Representatives, representing Ibadan South East Constituency. He was the chairman of the House Committee on the Nigerian Army.
